Life with Sheila in the Time of COVID-19
Do you remember singing this song and walking along with Uncle Remus?
Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay wonderful feeling, wonderful day! Mr. Bluebird on my shoulder.
I was singing that a week ago as Cami, Dana, and I walked the “rail trail” that connects Eldorado and Santa Fe. We were on a mission; we were responding to an email that asked for someone to clean out all the bluebird houses along that trail. Why not? So with tools in hand and a song in our hearts, we walked in the sunshine and opened as many of the 30 boxes as we could. Since we had painted them last year, some soul had come along and screwed the doors shut. Cami volunteered to return the next day with her satchel of screwdrivers and hammers. She did so and her reward was 1 birdhouse with 6 beautiful sky-blue eggs and another with a mama bird sitting on her 3 eggs! If you haven’t walked or ridden this trail, put it on your “to do” list. There are few people on this trail, so easy to stay distant and observant of nature’s gifts.
